YouTube is the biggest video sharing and hosting platform in the world. With such an extensive source of content, your kids can easily have an access to inappropriate videos as well. Thankfully, YouTube has a specific version for kids that can help us protect our little ones from any inappropriate content. Nevertheless, you can also manually block adult content on YouTube too.
Last weekend, YouTube yanked a popular music video from Robin Thicke, which featured a number of topless models prancing to the rather upbeat track. The video for "Blurred Lines" had garnered more than one million views before it was found to be in violation of the video sharing service's community guidelines regarding Sex and Nudity. A few days later, the VEVO upload of the same uncensored music video was pulled down about 30 minutes after we first noticed that it was still available on YouTube.

We were successful in getting this cartoon pulled from YouTube just like the last one. My recording of it is still able to be viewed below. The second video is from YouTube Kids. Seven months ago a concerned mother alerted me to a cartoon on YouTube Kids that had a clip of a man spliced in showing how to properly slit their wrists.

Some comments by other YouTube users denounced those making sexually suggestive remarks about the children in the videos. Earlier the same month YouTube was also criticized over low-quality content targeting kids as viewers on its platform. The company went on to announce a number of policy changes related to kid-focused videoincluding saying it would aggressively police comments on videos of kids and that videos found to have inappropriate comments about the kids in them would have comments turned off altogether. Any content — including comments — that endangers minors is abhorrent and we have clear policies prohibiting this on YouTube.
