Dateline: St. Paul The number of sexual assault cases reported to Minnesota colleges and universities increased for the second straight year inbut fewer than half were investigated by schools, according to data released in June by the Minnesota Office of Higher Education. The cases are the highest reported number since Minnesota colleges and universities started collecting and reporting campus sexual assault statistics to the state inwhen the Legislature signed it into law.
The Sexual Violence Center SVCan independent nonprofit organization that provides services to victims of sexual violence and their friends and families, has moved their office to Fremont Avenue N. SVC provides hour crisis phone service, individual counseling sessionssupport groups, advocacy and legal clinics at no cost to the victim. Advocacy for victims and friends includes providing support during the evidentiary exam, while filing a police report and during court hearings.
Get Help. Just go to the ER and let them know that you want a sexual assault evidentiary exam. The sexual assault exam can be performed up to hours after a sexual assault, but is most successful for evidentiary purposes within the first 24 hours information from the Aurora Center.

Patients whose assault occurred within the last 7 days are eligible for a medical-forensic exam from HART. To obtain an exam, visit any of the emergency departments listed below and tell them that you have been sexually assaulted. You do not need to report the assault to law enforcement in order to receive an exam.
Administrators and counselors at the Sexual Violence Center in the Whittier neighborhood said their garden does more than provide pretty greenery, it helps heal survivors of sexual violence, their clients, and to calm staff who work with them. SVC provides counseling, support groups, advocacy, legal clinics and education. The nonprofit also operates a hour crisis line and provides rape counselors to help survivors through hospital and legal procedures.
